About STAMP for Hebrew
Avant STAMP for Hebrew is a general language proficiency assessment of Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking skills in Hebrew. Originally developed in collaboration with Hebrew at the Center, it was originally designed for Jewish Day Schools and heritage learners. Today, Hebrew second-language learners also benefit from this proficiency test.
This assessment has two age/ grade-band options. STAMP 4Se for Hebrew is developmentally and linguistically appropriate for grades 2-6 or ages 12 and below. STAMP 4S for Hebrew is appropriate for grades 7+ or ages 13 through adult.
Both levels are structured in the same way: Reading must be completed before Writing and Listening must be completed before Speaking. This structure is a function of the computer-adaptive nature of the test.
STAMP 4S assessments may be purchased in one-, two-, and three-skill combinations. However, testing all four skills is always recommended to obtain the best look at a learner’s proficiency and obtain the best longitudinal data.
Avant STAMP tests use authentic texts and audio in situations the learner may encounter in the real world. Try a sample test to see examples.
Avant STAMP 4S for Hebrew is recommended for college credit by the American Council on Education (ACE), the same educational body that has provided credit recommendations to institutions of higher education for College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations, Cambridge Assessments, and ACT subject tests. This provides opportunities for students to earn credit or be placed in higher-level courses to advance their language skills.
The Avant Assessment Digital Badge through Credly is a secure way for a test taker to share their test results with a potential employer or an institution of higher education to possibly receive credit and/or advanced placement in a language program.
Universities across the U.S. are recognizing Avant STAMP and creating pathways to higher education for language learners everywhere.
Kira H. Student, University of Maryland
“The Avant STAMP test and digital badge allowed me to fulfill four elective credits towards my major in Computer Science and placed me into higher level courses for my Hebrew Minor. Without it, I would have had to take an additional placement test and possibly additional courses that would have made it more challenging to complete my minor. In the long run this has saved me so much time!”
The Avant STAMP assessments are accepted by the Global Seal of Biliteracy. The Global Seal is available to students and non-students alike, including any level of professional.
